- Perform defined infection control cleaning tasks across the hospital, which include correct maintenance and centralised storage of isolation equipment and chemicals, wearing appropriate protective clothing/equipment throughout the hospital as directed.
- Act as a first line of response in the event of an external or internal biological threat, in relation to isolation equipment and associated requirements.
- Recognise infection risks within the hospital environment and report to Infection Prevention and Control nursing staff to enable corrective action to be taken.
- Maintain associated written records of service provision on a daily basis and ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Provide infection control cleaning advice and leadership to general cleaners during an outbreak or specific infection control situation.
- Provide training to new and relief staff.
- Initiate, maintain and coordinate transmission-based precautions across the hospital, which incorporates microbiological surveillance of isolation rooms, as and when directed by Infection Control nursing staff.
- Assist and advise clinical staff on specific aspects of transmission-based precautions requirements, as required.
- Attend ongoing and specialised education and training programs, as determined by the Operations Manager - Corporate and Support Services and the Nurse Unit Manager.
- Undertake other hospital cleaning duties as directed.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training, ensuring that quality and safety improvement processes are in place and acted upon.

- Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary cleaning practices, including an understanding of practices relating to infection control cleaning and the type of isolation/precautions required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision with well-developed organisational skills and ability to exercise a high level of initiative, judgement, confidentiality and discretion.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work and function effectively in a team environment and deal sensitively with patient requirements.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
