Vestas are seeking an experienced Lead Purchasing Manager to join our highly skilled procurement team in Melbourne to help lead the department, bringing enthusiasm and efficiency to an already successful team.The Construction & Transport Procurement team is responsible for the strategic sourcing of all industrial service providers who support Vestas with qualified manpower and equipment for the transportation and construction of our wind power plants.Through early engagement of our business partners, we secure the best value engineered solution for the development and construction of our EPC and Supply & Installation projects. With a cross functional team of stakeholders, we strategically develop partnerships to enable sustainable growth and drive value for our end customers.You will be part of a highly dynamic and diverse team, that is driven by Vestas Values (Passion, Collaboration, Accountability and Simplicity) and is excited about the prospects of renewables in the region and our purpose to fight climate change.We offer a rewarding, purpose based career in a diverse and international environment.You will heading a team in charge of the strategic sourcing of a portfolio of projects from early sales engagement to final execution.Responsibilities
  • Maintain and build Vestas' relationship with suppliers, develop solutions to meet our project and end customer needs
  • Establish and develop partnerships with cross functionally selected suppliers to gain competitive advantages and drive value
  • Roll out Regional Construction & Transport Procurement strategies for Balance of Plant, Transportation, Cranes and Installation
  • Lead the Procurement process throughout the bidding process, ensuring safety, quality, delivery and competitivity of our supplier base
  • Lead the team through commercial contract negotiations and develop bid, negotiation and commercial strategies
  • Build supply market intelligence and ensure that the supply base is available to enable our sustainable growth strategy
  • Ensure that all cost out and value creation opportunities are identified, and that relevant risk assessments are completed and acted upon to reduce risk
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, law or finance
  • 7+ years of procurement, commercial or project management experience, ideally within wind energy, power plants, infrastructure or the construction industry
  • 3+ years in leadership position
  • Strong business acumen and a passion for the development of supplier relationship
Competencies
  • Experience with commercial negotiations and high level of commercial acumen.
  • Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams
  • Able to manage complex supplier relationships
  • Ability to negotiate large infrastructure projects
  • Well organised and disciplined approach
  • Show initiative and creativity in finding solutions
  • Confidence in presenting to senior levels
  • Strong negotiator and influencing style
