You will have a chance to make a real difference to your local communities and to the lives of those you work with.About the roleFamily Consultants work with families involved in child related proceedings, giving particular attention to the protection and safety of children, family violence and related issues, whilst working towards appropriate and safe parenting arrangements. Family Consultants undertake responsibilities associated with the provision of risk assessment, case management, mediation, counselling and reporting as required under the amended Family Law Act 1975 and Family Court Act (1997).EligibilityThese positions require a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or approved four-year degree in Psychology with eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.Application processHow to applyPlease ensure you review the attached Job Description Form (JDF) for further information about the requirements of the position.   • Demonstrated experience and high-level skills in undertaking assessments, developing client plans and case management.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills including the ability to apply relevant legislation.
  • Highly effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication which reflects self-awareness and a capacity to understand the perspective of others.
  • Demonstrated high level counselling and mediation skills including the ability to assess family dynamics in the context of separation and family breakdown
