There is a broad variety of work, involving many business units across our facilities, as well as collaborating with colleagues across other St Vincent’s facilities.This rewarding opportunity will see you join the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney (SVPHS) in Darlinghurst as a Facilities Engineering Manager. In this full-time, site-based role, you’ll lead all new developments and redevelopments and oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the hospital buildings and associated engineering infrastructure.What you’ll be doing:
You will have comprehensive oversight of hospital infrastructure, with an emphasis on ensuring seamless service and minimal disruption to operations.
Lead the technical governance and operational oversight of critical facility engineering systems; including fire protection, HVAC, and electrical infrastructure
Managing the hospital buildings, both interior and exterior, in collaboration with on-site contract providers.
Acting as a dynamic, solutions-focused leader with a proactive and team-oriented approach.
Oversee the execution of planned and reactive maintenance activities ensuring compliance across service lines
Leverage your expertise in complex facility management to drive operational excellence
Use technology and digital systems to support regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across critical infrastructure.
Overseeing external contract partners to ensure performance aligns with agreed service levels and hospital needs.
Managing budgets, including quote comparison, cost control, and negotiation.
Provide strategic input for life cycle replacement forecasting and planning, ensuring capital spend aligns with operational needs
Ensuring site compliance with WHS, sustainability, and legislative requirements.
Conducting property condition audits and identifying improvement opportunities.
Implementing cost-saving initiatives and best practices.
Conducting risk assessments and proactively managing hazards.
Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders with a focus on responsiveness and service.
About you:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position
Experience managing complex technical sites with buildings of varying age and condition.
Proven ability to manage contractor performance and third-party service providers.
Background in health, aged-care, education or similar operational environments.
Comfortable working in a 24/7 operational setting.
Experience using computerised maintenance management systems.
Delivering business efficiency plans to increase productivity / reduce cost
Computer skills, i.e. Excel and Word (or similar)
Knowledge of WHS, compliance with safe work practices and manual handling practices
