
Mainframe Specialist - Systems, Application, Or Java Expertise

- Core Mainframe Operations & Support: Provide 24x7 operational and technical support, including master console operations, in-depth problem ticket analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution. Conduct operational monitoring, alerting, and tuning to ensure system stability.
- System Administration & Maintenance: For those with a focus on system administration, you will lead software maintenance (patching/upgrading), apply SMP/E skills, and proactively provide innovative solutions for the z/OS environment.
- Application Development & Support: For those specialising in application maintenance, you will be highly skilled in Adabas/Natural applications maintenance and support, with proven expertise in surrounding software technologies like schedulers, transaction processors, and middleware.
- Mainframe Java Programming: For Java specialists, you will maintain and optimise existing Mainframe Java applications, conduct testing, and provide end-user support for legacy systems, including system improvement and incident/problem resolution.
- Collaboration & Innovation: Across all specialisations, you will proactively provide innovative solutions in accordance with modern technologies, build and maintain relationships with various levels of stakeholders, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Operating System: z/OS
- DB/Languages: Adabas/Natural, JCL, Java (for Java specialists), SAS, REXX (for automation).
- Transaction Processors: TSO, NIM.
- Middleware: MQ, Datastream, RPC, Corba.
- Monitoring & Operations: XYMON, MXG, VPS/NIMSPL.
- Scheduler/Batch: CA-11/Jobtrac.
- Security: RACF, Natural security.
- Source Code Management: N20.
- Storage/Backup: Hitachi VPS5100, CA-1 (Tape Management).
- Modern Practices: Ability to adapt to New Ways of Working (NWoW) techniques with Agile practices (JIRA, Confluence, Kanban, SPRINT, etc.).
- A minimum of 10+ years of proven experience supporting mainframe environments.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in mainframe environment software migration and maintenance processes.
- Solid knowledge of z-platform and z/OS technologies in terms of hardware and operating systems.
- Strong application control of mainframe architecture, middleware, and tooling.
- Solid exposure to batch technology from both a support and technical development perspective.
