- Lead daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and end-of-shift debriefs for HVAC teams.
- Supervise the installation of chilled water systems, ventilation systems, Mechanical LV systems, and BMCS interfaces, including ductwork, pipework, fans, pumps, and associated controls.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, ITPs, and project specifications.
- Coordinate access, lifting, penetrations, and interfaces with other trades (fire, hydraulics, electrical).
- Oversee testing and commissioning activities (pipe pressure testing, air balancing, duct leakage tests, smoke and cause/effect testing).
- Drive a safety-first culture, enforcing compliance with WHS legislation and project HSE requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments (JHAs, SWMS, HAZOPs) and ensure team adherence to controls.
- Ensure all personnel hold relevant competencies (RIW, high-risk work licences where required).
- Conduct regular safety walks, inspections, and audits, addressing issues promptly.
- Monitor daily progress, quality of works, and workforce performance.
- Maintain accurate site records: timesheets, diaries, delays, instructions, and punchlists.
- Ensure QA documentation, redline drawings, and commissioning records are completed.
- Support subcontractors and engineers in closing NCRs, RFIs, and defects.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to leading hands, supervisors, and junior staff.
- Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to achieve program outcomes.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives for inspections and sign-offs
- Identify resourcing needs and forecast labour, plant, and material requirements.
- 5+ years' experience in HVAC construction supervision on large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems (ductwork, chilled water, ventilation, Mechanical LV systems, BMCS).
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate with other trades.
- Demonstrated safety leadership and compliance with WHS requirements.
- Excellent people management and leadership skills.
- Professional presentation and able to represent the project at a high standard when interfacing with stakeholders.
- Able to delegate and take responsibility to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently and maximises project and individuals' effectiveness.
- Experience working under Permit to Work Systems and adhering to Permit to Work conditions.
- Able to use tools and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Trade qualification in Mechanical/HVAC (or equivalent).
- Construction White/Blue Card.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card.
- High Risk Work Licences (EWP, forklift, rigging, etc.).
- Experience with integrated systems testing and commissioning.
- Formal leadership/supervision training (e.g., RIIRIS301D, RIICOM301D).
