- Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Industrial, Utilities, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Commercial and Mining sectors
- Combination of maintenance, commissioning, fault finding and upgrade activities
- Primary testing of instrument transformers (CT's and VT's), circuit breakers, switchboards and other complex high voltage systems
- Primary injection differential balancing transformers, feeders, generators, motors
- Secondary injection testing of all protection system types including generator protection, motor protection, transformer and cable differential, current and voltage protection, line impedance protection
- Training and exposure to IEC61850 advanced automation protocol
- Ideally based out of Newcastle NSW, however flexible options for base location may be offered to skilled candidates
- Willingness to occasionally step up for the team and work in other disciplines such as general HV maintenance, high voltage testing (transformers, motors, generators) and electrical construction if required during periods of heavy workload for the extended team
- Ability to work autonomously on various protection systems in a safe and timely manner
- Work and learn under instruction and supervision from senior team members on more complex protection system tasks
- Safely undertake work to the approved standards of quality, cost and time, ensuring safety always remains your primary focus
- Assist with the completion of test certificate documentation and other job reporting requirements
- Comply with company OHS systems and procedures
- Comply with company business systems and procedures
- Liaise and participate in on-site project planning with other relevant stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with Engineering and Planning support teams
- Knowledge of high voltage systems and/or protection systems
- Very good computer literacy skills
- Some experience testing relays with Omicron, Doble or other brand Primary and Secondary Test Equipment and associated software
- Good customer liaison, communication and self-management skills
- Proven capability to work effectively within a team or site work crew
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve technical and practical problems
- Experience in reading and interpreting schematic and wiring diagrams
- Demonstrated cognitive skills in relation to learning and understanding new skills and concepts
- Proven leadership skills
- Electrical trade qualification (Required)
- Certificate 4 Electrotechnology (desirable)
- Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (desirable)
- Advanced curricular learning in electrical or electronics or instrumentation (desirable)
