You will be responsible and accountable for delivering safe operations, fostering a strong safety culture, and ensuring robust OHS/WHS risk management. This includes developing and implementing effective safety practices, conducting audits, contributing to business continuity planning, and providing strategic direction to reduce incident rates (TRIFR/LTIFR).The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of OHS/WHS law, risk articulation in commercial terms, and the ability to drive behavioural change and build organisational resilience within a complex infrastructure environment. Collaboration with stakeholders is essential to deliver operational excellence and mitigate risks.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible and accountable for delivering a safe operationWork collaboratively with stakeholders to build an organisational structure, plan activities, assign responsibilities, develop safe working practices and implement management proceduresDeploy appropriate strategies and tools to gather information against performance criteria as part of assessing risks and effectiveness of controlsEstablish and deliver effective quality management processes and practices that are deliberately designed to provide consistent results, greater efficiency and effectivenessUnderstand the impact of OHS/WHS risk realisation on the business and can articulate that in commercial terms as well as the usual moral, ethical and financial argumentsContribute to and ensure the coordination of business continuity and crisis management strategies relating to OHS/WHS and wider plans with risk managementBuild the resilience of the organisation to manage current, emerging and future risksUse the cost analysis to properly assess the impact of the incident on the business and develops a contingency or recovery planProvide strategic direction to reduce TRIFR / LTIFRRequired Skills and Competencies
  • Tertiary qualifications in OH&S or similar
  • Lead Auditor qualifications in WH&S management systems
  • Significant experience in on site safety management, particularly in remote FIFO locations
  • 7 - 10 years operational experience in the application of safety management principles
  • Working knowledge of HS&E and Work Cover requirements and implementation
  • Knowledge of process auditing principles and practices
