
Company Accountant - Video Game Industry

- Full-spectrum Financial Accounting: Own the end-to-end accounting process, from day-to-day bookkeeping right through to monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Financial Operations Leadership: Manage payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, GST/BAS and statutory compliance.
- Systems & Automation: Identify, implement, and optimise fit-for-purpose finance systems and processes to ensure our accounts run like clockwork, even as we grow!
- Management Reporting: Prepare and interpret management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and business analysis to support the CEO and leadership team in decision-making.
- Technical Advisory: Navigate the unique challenges of a digital games studio, including the Digital Games Offset Grant, R&D tax incentives, and deferred revenue models.
- Audit, Risk & Controls: Establish and run robust internal financial controls. Liaise with external auditors and ensure continuous process improvement.
- Business Partnering: Be a trusted advisor to management, providing clear insights, strengthening commercial acumen, and supporting strategic projects.
- Creative Industry Focus: Apply your understanding of the creative sector to support grant applications, IP management, and evolving revenue models.
- CA/CPA qualified, minimum 5-7 years professional accounting experience.
- Comfortable with both high-level reporting and hands-on financial operations - no job too big or too small!
- Experience in the creative arts or technology sectors desirable; a genuine interest in the games/entertainment industry required.
- Strong technical skills, confident with modern accounting systems (e.g. Xero, MYOB, or equivalents), and able to troubleshoot, automate, and continuously improve workflows.
- Knowledge/experience with the Digital Games Offset Grant a distinct advantage.
- Exceptional communication skills with the curiosity, empathy, and confidence to partner directly with the CEO and creative stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, ethical integrity, and resilience under pressure.
- A good sense of humor!
