At Cabrini, you’ll be joining a perioperative team that’s not only growing in number but also leading the way in innovation, capability and impact.Cabrini is committed to delivering outstanding, patient-centred care in a collaborative environment where your voice is valued, your professional growth is encouraged, and your work makes a real difference.The role and our CSSD TeamsAt Cabrini Hospital our Central Sterilising Supply Departments (CSSD) works with cutting edge sterilisation technology in a fast-paced hospital environment.We have Central Sterilising Supply Departments located at both Malvern and Brighton Campus, and together they service 24 Operating Theatres, four endoscopy rooms and two Cardiac Catheter Labs.Our departments have large assembly and storage areas providing an optimum working environment, where instruments are processed to the highest standard for each procedure.The Instrument Technicians can work across a 24/7 rotating roster reprocessing reusable medical devices for surgical procedures and typically rotate through all phases of the reprocessing cycle.Key responsibilities:Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package/wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments with precisionCollaborate with theatre teams, nurses, and surgeonsUse and monitoring of Steam and Sterrad sterilizersUse of an electronical tracking system to maintain sterilizing records to meet strict infection control standardsProcessing equipment both owned and from an external vendor through our Loans departmentCarry out all testing for equipmentReprocessing of endoscopy equipmentComplete surgical set ups in preparation for surgery & the transfer of sterile items to appropriate departmentsThis position requires lifting instrument trays up to 7.5kgs.About youAlong with recent proven experience as an Instrument Technician (12 months post certificate) and a commitment to providing a high level of service, you will have the following:MUST have Certificate III in Health – Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalentDemonstrated knowledge of sterilization standards with sharp attention to detailHigh level of customer service skills with a passion for patient safety and healthcare excellenceProven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.Effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills.Demonstrated knowledge of OH&S in the workplace.Join the team behind the scenes that makes surgical success possible.
