About Our ClientThis role is with a well-established not-for-profit organisation operating in the health and community services sector. As a medium-sized organisation, they are focused on delivering essential services and fostering positive change in the Brisbane area. The organisation delivers critical front line services to constituents and makes a genuine impact on the lives of many who need it most in the local area. As a growing enterprise with expanding service offerings, the Finance Manager role is a newly created position to help support the business through this growth.Job DescriptionThe Finance Manager role will be supported by one report and have a rounded remit. The role would ideally be based in Gladstone, but could be covered from Brisbane with some monthly travel (a few days per month). Core responsibilities include:
  • Oversee the organisation's financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting (including around grants and funding).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Prepare detailed financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage cash flow and develop strategies to optimise financial performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial planning with organisational goals.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making by senior management.
  • Supervise and mentor a small finance team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work with auditors to ensure smooth and timely audits.
The Successful ApplicantA successful Finance Manager should have:
  • A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification such as CPA or CA.
  • Strong expertise in financial management within the not-for-profit industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with financial systems and software.
  • Excellent knowledge of Australian accounting standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills to present financial insights effectively.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and solving financial challenges.
