All candidates for roles at Ellenbrook are subject to screening and assessment against child safety standards as part of our thorough recruitment process.We are seeking either an experienced Secondary Design Technology & Materials teacher or a secondary graduate teacher who has undertaken studies in Design Technology and Materials during their high school studies. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a passionate Christian educator to inspire and engage students in the field of Design and Technology. The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of the Western Australian curriculum and a desire to contribute to a collaborative, creative, and supportive teaching environment grounded in Ellenbrook Christian College.While a full-time role is preferred, we also welcome applications from those interested in part-time work or currently completing fourth year secondary teaching degree or master’s degree, who may be eligible to teach with limited registration. This position is expected to start in January 2026.Your key responsibilities:
- Be able to teach Secondary Design Technology and Materials utilising a sound understanding of Western Australian curriculum.
- Teach classes as timetabled using varied and effective strategies appropriate to the Learning Area/course and differentiate for the individual needs of students.
- Maintain effective, current and accurate records of student academic progress, including monitoring and review of student progress.
- Apply appropriate classroom management strategies in order to provide a positive and effective learning environment.
- Report informally and formally to students and parents using verbal and written communication through the mediums of Parent Lounge, Parent-Teacher evenings, the College’s reporting program and other appropriate means.
- Carry out extra duties as required - for example, grounds duty, internal relief, parent information evenings, College functions, fellowship events, staff meetings, etc.
- Develop an understanding of the biblical basis for Christian Education and the College’s values, aims and practices within the history of the Swan Christian Education Association.
- Have a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and be an active member of a Christian Church.
- To accept the Association’s Statement of Faith, Code of Conduct, Foundational Statements of Belief and Educational Objectives and be living a lifestyle consistent with these statements.
- Evidence of personal competence in their subject area through the presentation of folios, workbooks or teaching notes at interview.
- Familiarity with a variety of teaching and learning strategies to appropriately meet students’ needs and course objectives.
- Strategies used to communicate effectively with adults and students.
- Competence in the use of technology.
- Commitment to the establishment and maintenance of quality relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
