We want to engage and empower our diverse, global team to co-create value with our customers through our solutions in contract logistics and air, ocean, ground, and finished vehicle transport.YOUR ROLEThe Transport Manager at our Truganina campus plays a key leadership role within the Ground Transport Operation, responsible for planning, overseeing and optimising all transport-related operations within the state. This includes managing a team of multi-site fleet controllers, company PUD / local drivers, subcontractor drivers / carriers and the regional third-party transport distribution network.The role has overall accountability for ensuring the safe, efficient, cost-effective and compliant movement of goods.WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?Specifically, you will:
  • Lead a team of fleet controllers, company local drivers and subcontractor drivers / carriers, ensuring adherence to company policies and performance standards. Provide guidance, training and support to optimise individual performance and efficiency
  • Lead all transport-related operations, including the allocation of resources, scheduling and route planning / optimisation to meet service level agreements and customer requirements. Monitor and maintain fleet performance, ensuring vehicles are well maintained and compliant with safety regulations
  • Manage relationships with subcontractor drivers and carriers, ensuring adherence to service level expectations and in close partnership with CEVA procurement team
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation, maintaining a strong focus on safety throughout all operations. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address safety and compliance issues
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the performance of drivers, fleet utilisation and overall transportation efficiency. Analyse data to identify trends, address challenges and implement strategies to enhance operational effectiveness and cost-efficiency
  • Address operational challenges promptly, resolving conflicts and mitigating issues that may arise within the transport process
  • Be accountable for total purchased transportation spend (dependent on state) and contributing to the state's profit and loss (P&L) objectives as they relate to transport operations. Implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements without compromising service quality
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between reporting team and others (CEVA cross-dock, warehouse, customer service and carriers) to ensure seamless transport operations
  • Drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives within operation, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices. Partner with CEVA Business Process Excellence teams to develop and implement CI initiatives, as required.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?Our ideal candidate has significant experience in a transport management role, managing a diverse team including third-party providers and/or subcontractors as well as:
  • Applied knowledge / understanding of transport regulations and compliance standards in Australia
  • Proficiency in transport management systems and route optimisation tools and intermediate ability in MS Office (esp. Excel)
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Budgeting and cost management skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
