You'll join a research-aligned engineering team, focused on building high-performance systems that process large volumes of market data. You'll collaborate with global teams to evolve data infrastructure, improve tooling, and ensure researchers and traders have access to fast, reliable, and cost-efficient data pipelines.
Key responsibilities:
- Platform and Tooling development
- Design and build scalable data pipelines using Python & Spark
- Develop and maintain software components that support research workflows
- Implement observability, monitoring, and tuning for system performance and throughput
- Optimise resource usage and infrastructure costs (especially in cloud environments like AWS)
- Contribute to tooling, automation, and internal platform improvements
- Document best practices and guide engineering decisions with a long-term mindset
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the Sydney team
- Extensive software engineering experience with a focus on back-end platforms with Python Data Systems
- Strong programming skills in Python (bonus if you've used C++, Rust)
- Familiarity with modern tools such as PostgreSQL, AWS, Kafka, Spark
- Proven experience working on high availabilty / global distributed systems
- Strong problem-solving skills - you enjoy diving deep into performance, reliability, and scale
