- Collaborative team player, comfortable working with PhDs, researchers, and programmers
- Expertise in ocean salinity (and its relation to the Earth's water cycle), and coupled climate modelling
- Full-time, 4.5-year fixed-term role based in Hobart, Tasmania
- A PhD or equivalent in physical oceanography or equivalent but in highly related discipline (e.g. geophysics, ocean biogeochemistry).
- A good record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved international recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the field of physical oceanography.
- Experience in University post-graduate research supervision.
- A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession and wider community.
- In depth skills in the use of climate model data sets (like the CMIP simulations) and their analysis.
- In depth knowledge of the methods of analysis of ocean observations.
- Desirable: knowledge of machine learning, or other spatial Artificial Intelligence methods.
