Are you a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Engineer with a passion for operational excellence? Randstad is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Technician to join the team at a prominent food manufacturer located in inner-city Melbourne. This is a crucial role that will directly impact the company's success by ensuring all manufacturing operations run smoothly and efficiently.About the RoleAs the Mechanical Technician, you will be a key driver behind the maintenance of the plant's machinery and equipment. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules, performing essential repairs, and supervising contractors. Your primary goal is to optimise production capacity and productivity while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Preventative and Corrective Maintenance: Planning and executing maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns and quickly addressing any issues that arise.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring all plant machinery and equipment are running at peak efficiency to meet production targets.
  • Safety Leadership: Actively promoting and upholding the company's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Contractor Management: Supervising and coordinating the work of on-site contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and to quality standards.
What We're Looking ForWe need someone with a strong technical background and a proactive, forward-thinking approach.Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Australian Recognised Relevant Qualifications are a must (Mechanical Engineering Degree)
  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong Experience in Preventative Maintenance is ideal
  • Experience in Food Manufacturing Environment is essential
  • Sound knowledge of safety, quality, planning, and production systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound, fact-based decisions.
  • Ability to work Saturdays as required with time in lieu
