Company DescriptionWe are a national NDIS provider, delivering Allied Health support in over 300 locations across Australia to thousands of participants in the community with Occupational & Speech Therapy, Behaviour Support, Psychology, Exercise Physiology & Physiotherapy services. #AAAJob DescriptionAbility Action Australia's Gold Coast team are looking for an experienced BSP or candidates considering a new career pathway within Behaviour Support - that come from a strong background in either the disability or mental health sector.Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to manage challenging behaviours to improve their quality of life, and develop new skills
  • You will complete thorough assessments to understand behaviour triggers, identify risks & consider specific strategies to improve behaviour outcomes
  • You will develop Behaviour Support Plans and provide support to families and/or carers, for consistent implementation
  • Maintain a caseload with ongoing monitoring, support and make adjustments where required.
  • Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths, as well as ensuring they get more out of life
  • Build the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers or friends
  • Act as an advocate and role model for best practice
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

QualificationsTo be considered suitable you will have:
  • Current suitability as a BSP - as confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
  • Completed a degree level qualification as an allied health professional - Social Work, OT, Speech, Psychology degree's preferred
  • 1 - 2 years employment experience working with challenging behaviors as a Mental Health or Disability Support Worker
  • Report writing experience
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector
