We support unique business activities like information and technology services, library and research services, security, broadcasting and Hansard functions, visitor services and support an in-house catering and events function. The section also supports a significant capital works program, which ensures Parliament House is maintained according to its original design intent.This recruitment process will be used to fill a number of vacancies at the PEL1 classification.   • Tertiary qualifications in areas such as Accounting, Finance, or Commerce with professional membership, or working towards obtaining membership.
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Build partnerships with business area executives and operational staff to develop and provide trusted advice to support decision making in relation to the operating budget.2. Prepare internal operating and capital monthly management reports and analysis to senior executives, facilitate discussions over these reports and work with business areas to develop forecasts.3. Prepare internal operating and capital budgets and support regular review and analysis.4. Prepare external budgets, including development of New Policy Proposals in adherence with the Commonwealth Budget Process Operating Rules.5. Prepare a range of written material including business cases, Cabinet submissions, Senate Estimates briefs and Executive Committee papers.6. Provide leadership within the Management Accounting and Reporting section, demonstrating DPS values and the ability to achieve Finance Branch outcomes.7. Provide significant contribution to innovation and continuous business process improvement.8. Other duties as required.Selection Criteria1. Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating accounting and financial concepts and or issues to a wide-ranging audience including those from a non-financial background.2. Demonstrated ability to cultivate productive working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.3. Demonstrated experience in undertaking high level analytical and problem-solving work with a high level of complexity and sensitivity.4. Knowledge of legislative frameworks, Accounting Standards and Government process.5. Demonstrated ability to prepare briefs and submissions for consideration by internal Departmental committees and Government.6.   • Australian citizenship - to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security clearance and character clearance - the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Health assessment - a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
