- Collaborate with the Lead Spatial Analyst, GIS Officer, Land Restoration Leads, and Operation Managers to produce tailored GIS products that support project planning and execution.
- Conduct desktop assessments of prospective properties, including:
- Gathering and analysing council and state planning data, historical land records, and environmental attributes (e.g., vegetation types, topography).
- Communicating spatial findings clearly and effectively via map outputs and data-driven summaries for client-facing reports.
- Create effective and instructional maps for contractor field operations, including infrastructure layouts and visual guides for on-ground activities.
- Learn and apply carbon yield modelling using FullCAM, reporting insights to the team.
- Contribute to innovation in field and landscape data capture as new technologies emerge.
- Maintain a logical and standardised GIS data management system to support future audits and reporting.
- Deliver geospatial outputs across the carbon project lifecycle, including:
- FullCAM modelling
- Planting design maps
- Mobile map applications for field teams
- Contractor QA of works completed via GPS data
- Planning layer records and infrastructure mapping
- High-quality illustrations for reports Submissions to the Clean Energy Regulator
- Support geospatial file submissions and reporting to third-party auditors under supervision.
- Liaise with clients’ spatial teams for data sharing and coordination where required.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Spatial Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Foundational experience with ESRI tools including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps:
- Spatial analysis skills in feature digitisation, land-cover analysis (e.g., imagery classification), georeferencing, mobile map creation, and high-quality map publishing are highly valued.
- Strong data management capabilities are essential.
- Willingness to learn regulatory frameworks and methodologies relevant to carbon project mapping and monitoring (in particular, relating to the Mixed Species Environmental Planting Methodology within the ACCU Scheme).
- A background or interest in environmental or ecological sciences is advantageous is essential. Occasional field work opportunities may be offered for candidates with an environmental background but this is not a requirement for the role.
- You will need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- A current driver's licence (required), experience/training with 4WDs/SSVs, experience with remote area work and First Aid in Remote Situations certification is desirable.
- Ability to travel infrequently from home is likely to be required, including to remote locations.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to safe work polices/procedures at all times.
- Experience working with Indigenous stakeholders, including Local Aboriginal Land Councils, and an understanding of issues relating to the protection of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage will be highly regarded.
