We are proudly part of Japan Post —Being a division in Toll Group, Toll Government & Defence provides specialised logistics services across warehousing and distribution, relocation services and outsourced sourcing and procurement services.The RoleToll Government and Defence is seeking a skilled and proactive Network Infrastructure Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. These pivotal roles are where you’ll design, implement, and manage complex WAN and LAN environments, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing network solutions.To be successful as a Network Infrastructure Specialist, you will:
  • Design and deploy mixed protocol WANs and LANs using technologies like MPLS VPN, SD-WAN, SASE, IPsec VPN, Cloud WAN, and 5G WAN Edge.
  • Lead the implementation of new network communications technologies.
  • Manage network security policies and ensure infrastructure integrity.
  • Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support across networks and end-user computing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Patch, upgrade, and secure infrastructure in line with IT security policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to deliver infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation and participate in out-of-hours support and maintenance.
  • Provide onsite support and work cross-functionally to ensure customer and business needs are met.
What you’ll bring:Essential Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in Infrastructure, Support, or Field Services Engineering.
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, switches, routers).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and participate in out-of-hours work.
Desirables:
  • Certifications: Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), VMware (VCP), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), CompTIA (Network+/Security+).
  • Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework.
  • Previous Australian Defence Clearance.
  • High energy and resourceful – open to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Accountable – taking ownership and delivering to completion.
  • Proactive with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Able to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field – or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications are highly regarded.
