As the first point of contact for Australian consumers and businesses, you will provide advice on how to resolve disputes, record and refer matters for further action, and contribute to the ACCC's compliance and enforcement work. This role offers the opportunity to develop your knowledge of competition and consumer law while working in a collaborative and supportive team environment. For Senior Public Information Officers, you will also provide guidance and support to other team members, including how to apply documented guidelines and procedures.In this role, key tasks include:
  • responding to enquiries about consumer rights, obligations, and potential breaches of the Competition and Consumer Act, and providing clear and accurate information to the public.
  • identifying and escalating reports of potentially concerning conduct for further assessment under the ACCC's Compliance and Enforcement Policy.
  • being an agile, collaborative and effective team player.
  • working in a scheduled environment and contributing positively to the ACCC's priorities and objectives.
About youIn order to succeed in the role, you will have:
  • strong oral and written communication skills to deal politely and tactfully with the public, and represent the ACCC in a professional manner.
  • the capacity to gather, refine and analyse data and to undertake basic research in line with guidance.
  • an ability to work in a scheduled environment and contribute positively to priorities and objectives.
  • you to be an agile, collaborative and effective team player.
  • as a Senior Public Information Officer (ASP4), you will also require a demonstrated ability to support junior team members in the workplace, including providing training and guidance.
