About the DepartmentAlfred Health Pharmacy is well recognised for high quality and innovative patient- focused services, education and training programmes as well as significant research output. The service operates over 4 sites within Alfred Health, and continually advocates for postgraduate learning and research interests, with supportive partnerships and expert mentors available to foster staff development.The department also has a leading Digital Health strategy, playing a pivotal role in managing the electronic medication management system within our comprehensive electronic medical record (Cerner), with an advanced level of integration linking this to the Pharmacy Dispensing (iPharmacy) and Automated Medication Storage systems (Omnicell). This is complemented by a strong clinical presence and a Centre for Medicine Use and Safety program to achieve a considered, safe and financially responsible approach to medication management within Alfred Heath.Further information is available atAbout the TeamOur pharmacists are recognised as essential members of all clinical teams, actively engaging in a unit and team-based care model involving ward rounds and collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve excellent patient care outcomes. There are vast opportunities to engage in Advanced Scopes of Practice. This includes undertaking credentialing programs and leading clinical activities such as Partnered Pharmacist Medicine Charting, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Nicotine Replacement Therapy, and Analgesia de-escalation, to name a few.The RoleWe are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist with experience in clinical pharmacy and education to lead the Pharmacy Learning and Development Team in a full-time position, a team with a reputation for innovation and excellence. We have both a permanent full-time opportunity and a 12 month fixed-term opportunity.As the Lead Pharmacist - Learning and Development, you will lead the development and management of core clinical education activities, including the design and implementation of key programs in our department. These programs include our intern, undergraduate, residency and advanced residency programs, as well as key clinical pharmacy credentials for extended scope of practice activities and external programs. You will also be expected and supported to conduct practice-based research projects in clinical pharmacy and clinical education. Your role will also involve a small clinical load once to twice a week.Key Skills
  • Experience with clinical education in a hospital or academic setting
  • High level of clinical skills and knowledge as well as judgement and reasoning
  • Demonstrated skills in change-management
  • Problem-solving and risk assessment abilities and the ability to use initiative
  • Excellent communication, time management skills with the ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work and deliver deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience developing and building learning packages/credentialing programs
Qualifications & Experience required
  • Registered pharmacist in Australia
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or clinical education highly desirable
  • Extensive experience in leading or developing educational programmes
  • Extensive clinical pharmacy experience in a tertiary care setting
