- Lead a systematic approach in the identification and delivery of sustainable mechanical maintenance processes and methods
- Effective leadership and development of the mechanical maintenance crews to ensure the optimal performance of equipment and delivery of the mine plan.
- Manage engagement with OEM's and contractors
- Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives across crews
- Ensure all statutory inspections and maintenance tooling/safety equipment is maintained and periodic calibrations/inspections are recorded
- Ensure underground equipment compliance aligns with site standards
- Assist with budget development and expenditure management via SAP maintenance/purchasing system
- Oversee and provide guidance in the execution of the weekly work and shutdown schedules to minimise any unscheduled work.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements and all Peabody and North Goonyella site policies and procedures

- Mechanical trade qualification or engineering degree
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role in outbye within an underground coal mine
- Extensive knowledge of conveyor systems, conveyor maintenance and conveyor management essential
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to foster and maintain a positive safety culture
- Supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, S3 & G2)
- Strong leadership and ability to motivate a high performing team
- Proficient with a computerised maintenance management systems (SAP), MS Office suite

- Identify maintenance requirements and improvements
- Ensure adequate resources are available for meeting scheduled and repair/breakdown maintenance
- Act as subject matter expert for shutdowns to optimize costs and availability
- Liaise with operations departments to ensure optimal equipment and plant availability
- Work with site/multi-site support engineers to assist in resolution of technical maintenance issues
- Liaise with procurement/stores/logistics to oversee inventory and ensure availability of required materials for maintenance
- Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the company
- 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance of mine equipment required
- Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
- Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
- Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
- Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
- Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
- Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
- Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
- Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
- Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height
- Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
- Must have the ability to lift 25 - 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
- Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
- Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours
- Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone
- Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents
- Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person
- Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.
