What's the role?The Financial Crime Surveillance (FCS) team is part of Westpac's Risk Division and responsible for detecting, deterring and fighting financial crime. This role is part of the first line of defence for financial crime related risks such as anti-money laundering, sanctions, KYC and customer due diligenceThe role will leverage advanced data analytics, machine learning, and data science techniques to prevent, detect financial crime and enhance Westpac's overall financial crime prevention efforts. While technical expertise is important, problem-solving skills are what we value most.You will be responsible for analysing financial crime trends, developing predictive models, and identifying emerging threats, all while ensuring continuous improvements in surveillance processes and systems.What do I need?

Mid-level experience in developing and deploying generative models for various applications, with a strong track record of delivering successful AI solutions
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL skills
Strong experience in SAS and Power BI is desirable
Deep understanding of the latest advancements in deep learning, reinforcement learning and generative models, with a proven track record of building and deploying successful applications/solutions in this field is desirable
Experience in the following areas: natural language processing, or computer vision Methods: NLP, LLM, GenAI, Open AI, Microsoft Cognitive Services - Audio to text, text mining NLP, Image recognition, Machine Learning
