About the Role
The Grade 3 Subacute Speech Pathologist will provide high quality services and clinical leadership within the Speech Pathology department across rehabilitation and GEM wards at the Kew and/or Fitzroy campus.This position involves clinical expertise in subacute speech pathology management of patients with communicative-communicative and swallowing disorders. The role is key in supporting and mentoring Grade 2 and Grade 1 Speech Pathologists within the stream.
  • Strong leadership and contributes to the strategic plan and vision of the department
  • Assessment and management of patients in accordance with up-to-date knowledge of departmental clinical policies and currently accepted Speech Pathology Australia professional standards of practice
  • Ensuring that speech pathology services provided are based on the latest available evidence

Classifications for this position will range from classification range VW6 - VW9 ($102,091- $116,646 pro rata per annum).Your Contribution
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), or Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia and knowledge of Speech Pathology Australia position papers / Code of Ethics
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
  • At least 7 years’ experience in adult Speech Pathology
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills incorporating excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, identify and build relationships with key stakeholders

The Speech Pathology Department is dynamic and supportive. Committed to providing high quality Speech Pathology services to patients with communication and swallowing disorders at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. The Speech Pathology team provides services across the continuum of care, over multiple campuses.
