You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate.You will be part of a team that strives to support each other to reach our potential, focus on what matters most and continue to be innovative in approaches to practice.As an Enrolled Nurse in Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital, you will be encouraged to share your clinical expertise and further develop your practice with the professional development opportunities available.As an Enrolled Nurse you will work under the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse and retain responsibility for your own actions and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions.Some of the key functions of the Enrolled Nurse is to:
- Practice in accordance with the Enrolled Nurse Standards for Practice.
- Assist in quality, efficient and effective person-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team which meets the needs of the patients and their families or carers.
- Foster patient and family participation in the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care by providing information and education according to their level of training.
- Recognise normal and abnormal observations in assessments, intervention and evaluation of individual health and functional status, reporting effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of the patient.
- Communicate effectively with patients/ carers to ensure an understanding of service delivery processes and clinical interventions, to ensure patients' needs are identified and requirements are met.
- Consult and liaise with health care professionals within the health care team to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain clear and concise patient records to meet legislative requirements.
- Utilise a systematic approach to assess, analyse and propose alternative solutions to situations that arise in order to resolve patient care issues, within the scope of professional practice and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
- Plan and prioritise own work requirements effectively to meet defined care objectives within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and skills, and practice within the risk management, safety and quality frameworks as applicable to SESLHD, to ensure the health and safety of staff, patients and visitors.
- Work within own scope of practice and seek support, learning and education where required.
- Act as a preceptor to other enrolled nurses, undergraduates, Assistants in Nursing and work experience students as appropriate.

- Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with Medication endorsement.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience as an Enrolled Nurse that applies to a operating theatre clinical setting
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and be able to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Current computer skills and ability to use health information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person-centred practice.
- Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload.
