This is a senior, hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the technical coordination of our in-market wearable devices whilst driving the development of next-generation connected safety solutions.Working closely with international OEM partners, mobile carriers, and internal engineering teams, you will ensure our wearable devices deliver best-in-class safety experiences across global markets. This role is critical to Spacetalk's mission of providing Safety at every stage of life through innovative, reliable hardware solutions.Key responsibilitiesHardware Development & OEM Coordination
  • Lead technical coordination activities for our existing smartwatch portfolio and oversee development of new connected wearable device categories.
  • Manage relationships and technical coordination with OEM partners, particularly in Shenzhen, ensuring quality delivery of hardware solutions.
  • Coordinate development, testing, and certification of new firmware versions by OEMs, ensuring compliance with global standards.
  • Identify and evaluate potential partners for building new categories of wearable devices aligned with our safety mission.
Technical Program Management
  • Coordinate internal activities to build upon OEM firmware, adding new features, language support, and customised settings for global markets.
  • Support quality assurance of manufacturing processes for new production runs, ensuring consistent product quality.
  • Research and analyse market requirements for device specifications, including mobile network frequencies, bands, and regional compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate overseas testing of devices across multiple markets to ensure global compatibility.
Compliance & Carrier Relations
  • Lead technical compliance activities, ensuring devices meet regulatory requirements across Australia, Europe, and the US.
  • Collaborate with mobile carriers to achieve device certifications and ensure seamless network integration.
  • Coordinate with carriers to ensure eSIM provisioning capabilities are optimised for our devices.
  • Work with repair partners globally to ensure they receive appropriate technical training and support.
RequirementsYou are a technical leader with deep experience in consumer electronics development and IoT device management. You thrive in collaborative, international environments and have a passion for building connected devices that improve people's lives.Key skills & ExperienceEssential
  • 5+ years of experience in device engineering or hardware product management, with a focus on consumer electronics and IoT/4G devices.
  • Proven experience leading development of new consumer electronic devices from concept to market with OEMs overseas and partners closer to home.
  • Strong background in technical component research and supplier relationship management.
  • Experience with firmware development coordination and device certification processes.
  • Understanding of mobile network technologies, frequency bands, and global compliance requirements.
  • Strong project management skills with experience coordinating international, cross-functional teams.
Highly Desirable
  • Proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese for effective communication with Shenzhen-based OEM partners.
  • Programming experience in C and Android development for firmware and device integration.
  • Experience with eSIM provisioning and carrier certification processes.
  • Background in wearable technology or health/safety device development.
  • Willingness to travel globally as required for OEM visits, testing coordination, and partner meetings.
  • Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, safety, telecommunications).
