- Rate: $40–$50 per hour, depending on experience
- Own the end-to-end payroll process for all employees on a weekly basis, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality at every step
- Calculate and process statutory deductions (e.g. tax, superannuation, pensions) with precision, ensuring full compliance and on-time submissions
- Maintain up-to-date employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes to pay or entitlements
- Validate and manage timesheet data, ensuring accurate tracking of hours worked, leave accruals, and entitlements across the business
- Generate and distribute payslips and payroll documentation in a timely and professional manner
- Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing clear and helpful support on pay, tax, and leave matters
- Stay ahead of compliance requirements, ensuring payroll practices align with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and legislation (e.g. GRIA)
- Assist with audits and reporting, preparing accurate payroll data and documentation to support internal and external compliance checks
- Hands-on Payroll Expertise: Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll processing in-house. You’ll know what it takes to get it done right, from data entry to final submission.
- Industry Knowledge: Ideally, you've worked in retail or hospitality, so you're familiar with the complexities of Award interpretation – especially the General Retail Industry Award (GRIA).
- High-Frequency Pay Cycles: Experience working within weekly or fortnightly pay runs. You understand the fast-paced rhythm and attention to detail this requires.
- Payroll Systems Proficiency: Comfortable using modern payroll platforms (experience with Dayforce is a bonus, but not essential).
- You’ve worked with systems and understand the importance of accuracy and compliance.
- Tech-Savvy Communicator: Strong communication skills and a knack for using tech to streamline tasks.
- Advanced Excel skills are a must – you’ll need to confidently work with data, formulas, and reporting tools.
