With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hour's drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourne's North is fastNorthern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Allied Health Assistant -Grade 3 to join the Physiotherapy team.Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.Services are provided through our five main campuses:Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.About the Role:The Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant (AHA) will work in Community Therapy Services (CTS) with the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) population (people aged 65 or over). The AHA will provide quality patient care under supervision of Allied Health clinicians through the application of competent clinical treatment skills. The AHA will carry out clinical support activities which promote patient centred care, improve patient flow, and facilitate timely discharges. The AHA will provide individual and group based therapy, and complete administrative tasks. The role will assist with the ordering, maintenance and cleaning of equipment.The role will be primarily based in CTS at Broadmeadows Hospital, and will require staff to be flexible with their working hours to meet the changing operational demands and may include working after hours, on weekends and public holidays (as required). Staff may be required to travel and work across the various Northern Health campuses and programs.To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant qualifications (Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent).
- Clinical experience working in a community setting with older population
- Experience working autonomously under the direction of a Physiotherapist
- Demonstrates a client centred focus in the provision of care
- Demonstrated teamwork and appreciation of multidisciplinary practice
- Understanding of the roles and contributions of different disciplines to patient care and discharge planning
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within Allied Heath Assistant scope of practice and seek advice/support when required.
- Demonstrated negotiation and effective interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
- Possesses self-management skills with an ability to meet timelines and prioritise competing demands
