Company Overview:
Join a leading Oil & Gas operator delivering conventional oil & gas development across the Cooper Basin and Northern Territory. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who wants to take ownership of well planning, design, and execution from construction through to handover.Role Details:We are seeking an experienced Drilling and Completions Engineer to join a dynamic projects team supporting the safe, efficient, and cost-effective development of conventional oil and gas wells. This position is responsible for the planning, design, and execution of drilling and completion activities, from well construction through to production handover.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role involves well design, equipment selection, performance optimisation, risk management, and engineering support throughout the drilling and completions lifecycle. A strong mix of technical expertise, strategic planning, and field understanding is essential.Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and plan well drilling and completion programs based on geological and engineering data
  • Support the execution of drilling and workover activities
  • Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance throughout operations
  • Monitor well performance and recommend optimisation strategies
  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare contingency plans
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align project outcomes
  • Generate technical documentation and post-activity reporting
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline
  • 5–15 years' experience in drilling and/or completions within the oil & gas industry
  • Proven experience with well design, casing, fluids, and well control
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic fracturing and advanced completion methods
  • Proficiency with industry software and engineering tools
  • Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Must have full Australian working rights
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
