- Has a strong connection to or understanding of the Pilbara region-whether through lived experience, community ties, or prior work in the area.
- Is deeply committed to Indigenous empowerment, heritage protection, and social equity.
- Understands and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and protocols.
- Can build trust and navigate complex stakeholder environments with empathy and integrity.
- May come from a background in community engagement, heritage, workforce development, procurement, or Indigenous affairs-formal qualifications are valued but not essential if lived experience and leadership are present.
- Is collaborative, proactive, and outcomes-focused.
- Has strong communication skills-verbal, written and cross-cultural.
- In this role, you'll:
- Build and maintain respectful, long-term relationships with Traditional Owners, Indigenous businesses, community leaders, and government partners.
- Provide leadership across the implementation of our Indigenous Participation and Heritage Management Plans.
- Work in close collaboration with procurement, commercial and workforce teams to create pathways for local Indigenous participation, training, employment and enterprise.
- Support Indigenous suppliers in navigating procurement processes and access to funding opportunities.
- Advocate for culturally appropriate, inclusive and sustainable engagement practices across the project.
- Represent the project in regional forums, stakeholder meetings, and public presentations as required.
