We’re doing it with our customers and communities as Australia’s energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.APA Group have a 4th Year Gas Fitter Apprenticeship available for someone that has the possibility of a full-time permanent position after successfully completing TAFE & APA internal courses.Your apprenticeship will consist of 2-4 years of both onsite work experience and formal classroom training. You will be an integral part of the team, learning from our highly skilled tradespeople. This position will give you a nationally recognized trade qualification Certificate in Plumbing & Gas Fitting.After completion, you will be a qualified technician in your trade.AGIG will cover and provide all your:
  • TAFE fees
  • Tools and equipment
  • Expenses for work travel
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Clothing
As an AGIG Apprentice you will:
  • Work a long side a first responder traveling to various locations to attend public reported gas leaks
  • To work as part of an efficient team under the general direction of a supervisor or Co-Ordinator.
  • Supply investigation & rectification.
  • Respond and Classify gas leaks as per the APA Group Leak Management Plan.
  • Re-light appliances for end-users.
  • Pinpoint probable sources of gas leaks using equipment provided.
  • Drive vehicles safely and efficiently with or without trailers
  • Deliver, Install and remove CNG bottles when required
  • Assist in the development and review of APA procedures and other projects
  • Maintain constant awareness of personal safety and that of colleagues and the public
  • Work in an outdoors environment is exposed to a wide range of conditions
  • Comply with the Dispatching and acknowledge programs that APA use to optimize the activities for this work
  • Comply with APA Policies and legislative requirements
  • Work overtime when required
  • Participate in the development of new work practices
  • Attend to duties as requested in a diligent and conscientious manner
  • To work collaboratively and treat fellow team-members with respect to support a team environment.

  • Available to commence or continue your career with APA in January 2026
  • Ready to ask questions, work hard, listen, and learn from your mistakes
  • Enjoy working outdoors and getting your hands dirty
  • Able to listen carefully, follow directions in the interest of safety for yourself, the team, assets, and environment
  • Able to work in confined spaces / at heights
  • Licensed to drive a motor vehicle
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to learning and developing your skills
