As a Senior Child Safety Practitioner (CSQ Level 2) you will work in the areas of child protection, children in care and family support. You will be responsible for:
- Responding to concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children and applying the provisions of the Children and Community Services Act 2004.
- Taking legal action to promote the safety and wellbeing of children where necessary.
- Undertaking case work activities of a complex nature.
- Providing services to children placed in the care of the CEO.
- Providing advice and expertise to District staff on the child safety and protection issues.
- Assisting and planning with District staff and others to develop community and family capacity to provide a safe environment for children and other vulnerable people.
- Developing and maintaining a high degree of knowledge and skills in providing services and supports to families and communities to enhance the safety and wellbeing of children and other vulnerable members of the community.
- Investigating serious concerns about the welfare and safety of children and taking action appropriate to the situation.
- Responding to concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children and applying the provisions of the Children and Community Services Act 2004 and the Young Offenders Act 1994.
- Ensuring adequate legal representation for children who are in the care of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) when they appear or are charged before the Children’s Court.
- Providing services to children placed in the care of the CEO, especially in relation to juvenile justice and accommodation issues.
- Quality assures reports for the courts, and lodges the same for the Magistrates and the President.
- Providing advice and assistance to District staff on child safety and protection issues as it relates to the Children’s Criminal Courts.
- Developing and maintaining a high degree of knowledge and skills in providing services and supports to families of children going through the Children’s Criminal Courts.
- 1 position for a period of 7 months.
- 1 position until March 2028.
- 1 position for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
- 1 position from 01 December 2025 to 29 May 2026.
You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant human services area to be eligible for this position. All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency.
