Position Title: APS6 Clinician – Client Assist (3 positions available)
Classification: APS6 (Labour Hire)
Location: Brisbane, QLD (480 Queen Street)
Engagement Type: Labour Hire (12 months, with possible extensions)
Hours: 37.5 per week (rostered shifts across a 24/7 service)
Pay Rate: $55–$65 per hour (in hand, before tax, excluding superannuation)About the Role
We are seeking three APS6 Clinicians to join the Client Assist Contact Centre team. These roles are telephone-based and support service provision nationally through responsive intake, triage, immediate mental health support, and referrals to regional offices for allocation.Clinicians will work in a rostered environment providing phone-based clinical services to veterans and their families, ensuring timely, trauma-informed, and client-centred care. A hybrid work arrangement (office/home) may be available by agreement with the hiring manager.Key Responsibilities As an APS6 Clinician – Client Assist, you will:
  • Deliver high quality clinical services including risk assessment, intervention, intake, triage, and referrals.
  • Provide evidence-based brief counselling interventions (individual, couple, and family sessions).
  • Manage clinical documentation using the Client Management System, ensuring accurate records of care plans, risk assessments, and session notes.
  • Liaise with family members, treatment providers, and stakeholders to coordinate care.
  • Participate in regular case reviews, supervision, and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical practice policies, ethical guidelines, and APS standards.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and safe team environment.
Key Skills and Attributes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide trauma-informed and holistic intake, assessment, and intervention.
  • Ability to conduct and document clinically appropriate intake assessments and risk management plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage critical incidents calmly and effectively.
  • Strong IT proficiency and ability to navigate clinical systems and digital platforms.
  • Understanding of call centre environments and experience in telephone-based clinical service delivery (highly desirable).
Mandatory Requirements
  • Australian citizenship
  • One of the following qualifications/registrations:
  • Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR
  • Social Worker with AASW membership, OR
  • Master’s-level Counsellor with PACFA (Clinical) or ACA (Level 3 or 4) registration.
Employment Conditions
  • Roster: 24/7 shift coverage, including weekends and public holidays. Penalty rates apply:
  • Base +25% (after hours/Saturday/Sunday)
  • Base +50% (most public holidays)
  • Base +150% (Christmas Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, ANZAC Day).
