Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, part of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), is seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment.As a Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive, evidence-based medical services while contributing to the education and supervision of junior medical staff. You will be instrumental in shaping clinical practices, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and supporting the hospital's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.About You:
You are a passionate and skilled physician with:
- Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
- A strong commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary care and the ability to lead and inspire a clinical team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in using clinical information systems.
- A dedication to teaching, research, and continuous improvement, with a focus on delivering safe, high-quality care.
- Availability to participate in the on-call roster and respond on-site as required.

- Provide specialist obstetric and gynaecological services, including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and general gynaecology care.
- Supervise and support junior medical staff, midwives, and nursing teams.
- Participate in teaching, training, audit, and clinical governance activities.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement projects.
- Participate in a departmental roster providing both weekday and weekend cover.
- On-call commitment shared equitably among consultants (currently 1 in X4, negotiable).
- Availability for emergency presentations, theatre lists, and delivery suite calls during rostered on-call periods.

- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the role delineation of the service with substantial exprience in gynaecological surgery.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
