Get an opportunity to learn about coal sampling and testing.Job DescriptionSGS is seeking Coal Technicians to join our team at Mount Thorley, NSW on a casual basis. This role's primary responsibility is to ensure the timely and high-quality sampling, preparation, and analysis of samples for both internal and external customers.Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

Ensure accuracy, precision and traceability of prepared samples.
Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
Assist with the calibration of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
Always maintain a safety-aware environment.
Follow routine and non-routine sampling instructions under supervision.
Perform all duties as per your Industrial Agreement classification, including: Sampling, Collection, Preparation, Analysis, Reporting and Validation of samples from automatic sample stations, and other samples, as required.
Other tasks and duties, as required and as directed by supervisor or management.

Qualifications

Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience preferred
Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred
Successful completion of Year 10 secondary education with science background or equivalent (preferred)
Progress towards or completion of relevant higher formal qualifications preferred
Good computer skills i.e. Excel beneficial
Completion of a numeracy, writing and comprehension test
Current full drivers license (green p plates by approval).
