About the DepartmentThe Department of Education supports students by providing higher education information and resources, administering student loan systems such as the Government eCAF and myHELPbalance website, and responding to a high volume of student enquiries. The Student Engagement Team specifically delivers information services, supports providers with compliance, and manages digital platforms that help students access and understand higher education support.About the RoleThe Senior Project Officers will work under the guidance of a Project Manager, assisting with administrative and operational activities to support a series of IT-related projects.Projects include:
Authenticated log-in for the myHELPbalance website.
Critical enhancements to the Government eCAF system.
CRM cloud migration.
IT technical skills are not required, but strong project coordination, reporting, and documentation skills are essential.Key Duties
Engage with key stakeholders to support achievement of project outcomes.
Plan and deliver project work independently in line with schedules and reporting deadlines.
Prepare and maintain written project documentation and records for effective decision-making.
Undertake administration and coordination tasks within departmental project management frameworks.
Maintain and use databases for reporting, monitoring, and evaluation of project tasks.
Support broader Student Engagement team functions including enquiries, correspondence, and executive briefings
Skills & Capabilities
Strong organisational skills, ability to manage workflow, and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Sound judgement and decision-making capability.
Experience supervising staff or guiding team members.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Altus/Sensei) or similar project management tools.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with capacity to quickly learn other IT systems
