- Facilitate the delivery of the City’s economic development strategies in Mandurah through designated projects, programs, research and analysis, creative ideas and government and business liaison to promote inward investment in high priority sectors.
- Lead and support projects and programs to improve skill development, higher education, and employment outcomes in Mandurah.
- Target key sectors identified through the City’s Transform Mandurah research and other endorsed plans.
- Further develop strategies, business cases, and strategic plans to develop those sectors.
- Attract government commitment, support, and funding.
- Liaise with public and private sector partners to ensure coordination of activities.
- Implement initiatives developed under the Community Strategic Plan and Departmental business plans.
- Provide a high level of service, advice, and support to potential investors as part of an integrated team approach.
- Relevant degree/qualification.
- Current unrestricted C class national driver’s licence.
- Demonstrated professional experience of at least 3 years in economic or business development, private investment attraction and/or delivery and implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Experience in working with the business sector and understanding of factors affecting business growth (desirable).
- Experience in working with the human capital sector and understanding of key issues and opportunities in skill development, higher education, and employment pathways (desirable).
- Sound understanding of the business development and investment process, financial reporting and key factors driving regional economic growth.
- Demonstrated ability to be collaborative and build relationships internally and externally to further the reputation and success of Mandurah.
- Research, analytical thinking and report-writing skills.
- Ability to discuss, articulate and challenge business plans and options.
- Knowledge of Australian and State Government grant funding program.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Self-motivating, outcomes focussed.
