Design & Build are seeking a Leading Hand Carpenter to join a high-end residential builder based in Melbourne’s South Eastern Suburbs. Our client has been established for over 5 years, delivering bespoke residential new builds, renovations, and extensions valued up to $6m. With a strong pipeline of projects currently underway and more due to begin, they are looking to expand their team.They are looking for a Leading Hand who is skilled in carpentry and happy to be on the tools while assisting the Site Manager to ensure the day-to-day operations run smoothly. The company is currently in a growth phase as they expand their presence in the market, making it an exciting time to join!Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting in leading in-house carpenters and subcontractors across multiple sites
Planning daily and weekly tasks, allocating work, and monitoring progress
Ordering and coordinating materials, tools, and equipment deliveries
Maintaining site safety, compliance, and cleanliness
Liaising with suppliers and the internal team
Representing the builder professionally to clients, consultants, and trades
Contributing on the tools as required to support your team and drive progress
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience across high-end/custom residential projects
A proven ability to lead and motivate a team
A strong understanding of construction sequencing, premium finishes, and site logistics
The ability to manage multiple moving parts while maintaining quality and control
