ROLE SUMMARY:This Assistant Chief Officer (ACO) Assets Capability Advisor (ACA) is a senior leadership role within the Operations Directorate that provides Assets and State Operations teams with comprehensive emergency management and operational expertise to drive and influence effective operational performance in the area of Assets and Fleet. Reporting to Deputy Chief Officer (Capability) [DCOC] the Assistant Chief Officer – Assets Capability Advisor is a key embedded operational liaison and primary operational decision-making position within the broader Fleet and Assets team (Assets). The position would be primarily located at either SFC or SLC. This role also has accountability for making Readiness and Response decisions on behalf of VICSES within the State command and control structure. The ACO ACA will actively undertake operational command and control functions during specific regional and/or state-wide operations. It performs senior multi-agency Incident or Regional Controller or Agency Command functions, maintaining accreditation by the Emergency Management Commissioner, ensuring the appropriate advice, support and allocation of resources for emergency readiness and response to the most senior levels of Government.For more information on Commuted Allowance/IMT/Duty Officer role, please see thisWHO WE ARE: Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events. As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents.
