The OpportunityWe are on the lookout for an experienced, trade qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Wacol branch workshop team as a Leading Hand. This role will see you lead a highly skilled workshop crew performing assembly, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of construction equipment.Reporting to the Service Manager, your responsibilities will also include:
  • Leading a team of Workshop technicians to meet, deliver and exceed service expectations
  • Driving a safety-first culture within the department
  • Liaising with technical support staff and coordinating diagnostics, maintenance and repair work
  • Managing work schedules and daily workshop activities to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and resources
  • Liaise with stakeholders pertaining to machine performance, product, workmanship, and warranty
  • Ensure housekeeping practices are adhered to
  • Oversee & coordinate the learning & development of apprentices
  • Ensure that the quality of our product & workmanship is maintained at the highest level
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
  • Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognised) heavy diesel or mobile plant trade qualifications
  • Earthmoving equipment experience is required
  • Natural leadership skills & an ability to influence people. Experience in a comparable industry is an advantage
  • Safety first mindset - ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed, and driven from within
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships
  • The ability to navigate complex technical issues to deliver high quality outcomes in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
