Overview:​​Full-time​, ​Continuing position​Salary Academic Level B ($115,303 -$ 136,925 p.a.) or Level C ($141,247 -$162,872 p.a.) + 17% SuperannuationBased at the ​Melbourne CBD​ campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the UniversityAbout the RolesAs the Lecturer, you will be expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to their field of expertise. More specifically, you are responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing your scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. You will also be expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will be expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. You may also be responsible for course coordination.As the Senior Lecturer, you will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School. You will make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs and to be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional activities. You will develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects, that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas, to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs. You will have an important research leadership role in embedding your research expertise into the life of the School and will be required to develop high-quality, productivity-driven networks across RMIT and with local, national and global, internal and external partners. You may have responsibility for program management.To be successful for the Level B appointment, you will meet the following Key Selection Criteria:Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in micro-nano electronics and developing next-generation brain-inspired sensors and processing systems and related areas, which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in a range of electronic, embedded systems and computer engineering areas; including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.Ability to undertake course coordination role.Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.Mandatory Qualifications: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experienceTo be successful for the Level C appointment, you will meet the following Key Selection Criteria:Emerging nationally recognised research track record micro-nano electronics and developing next-generation brain-inspired sensors and processing systems and related areas including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets.Demonstrated ability to coordinate and teach large courses in a range of electronic, embedded systems and computer engineering areas; and prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.Ability to manage a large program or a number of small programs.Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.Experience in research leadership with the ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes, attract and secure external research funding to sustain research effort and manage funded research projects including complex budgets and reporting requirements.Extensive experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance.Demonstrated ability to manage academic program teams, supporting scholarly development of less experienced academic staff.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a university.Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, produce executive reports, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment.Mandatory Qualifications: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experiencePlease Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.About the ​RMIT Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering​The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering is one of RMIT’s largest, with a strong reputation in research and innovation.
