Our client is a boutique client-side project and construction management consultancy who provide independent and professional services for property, construction and infrastructure projects. They are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Project Manager to join their innovative and client focused team in Sydney. As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of a large-scale new build commercial/life science project. Having experience running jobs through the full 360 project life cycle is ideal. It will be a medium to high rise commercial project with a fit out to laboratory specification. Ideal candidates will have experience on both the head contractor and consultancy/client side, but this is not mandatory. The candidate will likely be taking the project through detailed design, supporting value engineering, tender documents, advising and appointing consultants and head contractor, project management and superintendent work on the project in delivery phase.Candidates will need to have new build or extensions experience on projects in sectors such as commercial medium to high rise, health, pharma, labs, research, life sciences etc. The company holds high value in the stakeholder management element of the job, the ability to communicate both verbally and written and client facing interactions coupled with a strong base technical knowledge base as well as design and the ability to administer contracts along with a “can do” attitude. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Client management and consultation Project Planning/Feasibility studies Risk Management Design Management and Value Engineering Procurement of construction services Delivery of construction services Cost control and cost reporting and superintendent Commissioning and post contract duties for handover Oversight and delivery of the project Demonstrated experience working in projects involving physical containment laboratories or cGMP grade zones. Demonstrated experience managing commercial base build projects. Demonstrated experience managing teams of consultants, contractors and sub contractors Demonstrated experience managing CC, OC and post approvals associated with the conditions of consent. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or similar Minimum 5 - 15 years+ managing commercial medium to high rise / life science projects Superintendent skills Proven knowledge of contract administration and base build construction Strong negotiation skills Experience managing general conditions of contract such as AS4902 Sound understanding of overall construction programmes and plans Able to identify key client and builder obligations Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to build rapport at all levels Advanced computer literacy Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel This is a permanent full-time position providing a great opportunity to work with a successful and growing organisation who offer challenging work and the potential for career progression.
