Energy & Retail Sector | 6–12 month initial contract | Hybrid (Melbourne)An industry-leading enterprise in the energy, retail and convenience sector is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to support the continued build and optimisation of their modern Azure data ecosystem. This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale transformation with an employer of choice recognised for inclusion, innovation, and investing in cutting-edge cloud technology.What you’ll be doing
- Building and optimising data pipelines and modelling layers on Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
- Designing robust, scalable data models to support analytics, operational reporting, and ML initiatives.
- Working closely with architects, platform engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver best-practice data outcomes.
- Championing engineering standards and continuous improvement across the platform.
Proven experience as a Data Engineer working on enterprise-scale cloud platforms.Strong technical skills in:
- Microsoft Azure (e.g. Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, Fabric)
- Data Modelling (conceptual/physical, dimensional modelling, medallion architecture)
- Databricks / Spark / PySpark
- Understanding of real-time and batch ingestion patterns.
- Excellent stakeholder and communication skills.
