Senior Media and Communications Adviser
Location: Adeliade, SA
Contract: 3-month labour hire

As the Senior Media and Communications Adviser, you will play a critical role in shaping public messaging, managing media issues, and driving communication strategies that support both day-to-day operations and incident responses. Working closely with internal stakeholders, media, and the wider community, you will ensure accurate, timely and effective communications across a variety of platforms.Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of marketing, media, and public relations strategies that strengthen public awareness and trust.
  • Provide expert advice on corporate communications, including the preparation of media releases, speeches, newsletters and other content.
  • Respond to media enquiries and coordinate media-related activities, including briefings and conferences during emergency incidents.
  • Identify and manage emerging reputational issues and public affairs risks.
  • Represent the organisation at inter-agency forums and support operational communication requirements, including participation in after-hours and on-call rosters.
  • Support internal stakeholders with tools, training and advice to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Extensive experience in public affairs, communications, journalism or a related field.
  • Strong writing and content development skills, with the ability to tailor messaging across diverse audiences and channels.
  • Proven experience in media liaison and issues management in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgement, particularly when working with sensitive or urgent matters.
  • High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility across all levels.
  • A strong understanding of government communications protocols and branding standards.
