As the Data Governance Lead, you will champion the development and implementation of a comprehensive data governance framework. You’ll lead strategic initiatives to ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and usability across the business. This is a high-impact role that combines leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical expertise to drive a culture of data responsibility and literacy.Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Define and enforce data ownership and stewardship models.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Australian Privacy Act, SOCI, PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Lead the Data Steward Forum and foster cross-functional collaboration.
- Oversee data quality, metadata, and master data management initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate data-related risks, including privacy and security.
- Develop and deliver training programs to promote data governance awareness.
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
- Proven experience in a leadership or senior specialist role.
- Proven success in implementing enterprise-wide data governance programs.
- Strong knowledge of MDM, data lifecycle management, and cloud data platforms.
- Experience with tools like Collibra, Informatica Axon/EDC, Alation, or Microsoft Purview.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Agile delivery experience and familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience in the utilities sector is highly desirable.
