- Effective utilisation of personnel and equipment to meet production plans and targets.
- Communicate drill and blast requirements at pre-start meetings.
- Coordinate work-crew responsibilities ensuring employees are aware of changes and are competent to carry out tasks.
- Ensure all employees understand and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental working procedures.
- Take the leading role in respecting and complying with health, safety and environmental practices of the organisation
- Provide technical advice/ expertise on Drill and Blast operations and deliver training and guidance to personnel as required.
- Carry out blast notifications and clearances.
- Conduct fortnightly area hazard audits and daily workshop inspections.
- Ensure shift safety and environmental targets and metrics are met.
- Monitor shift performance to ensure drill and blast targets are met and take appropriate action to maintain targets.
- Report any significant deviation from the drilling and blasting plans to the Project Manager in writing on the shift report.
- Monitor and assess the work performance of delegates and provide motivation and growth through regular interaction, informal reviews and performance appraisals.
- Ensure the transport of blasting materials is in accordance with statutory regulations in a purpose designed vehicle.
- Carry out accident/incident investigations as required.
- Liaise with the Workshop Manager to plan scheduled maintenance activities.
- Undertake scheduled audits and inspections of magazine and facility.

- Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of MACA work practices.

- A demonstrated track record of fostering safety in the workplace.
- Proven experience as a Drill & Blast Supervisor, leading and mentoring teams effectively to drive performance outcomes.
- Extensive experience in open pit mining within a Nickel, Copper, Gold, Lithium or Iron ore background highly regarded.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across the team and departments.
