And, we want YOU to be a part of it all!A newly created System Administrator vacancy has become available within our Infrastructure team, that is responsible for the analysis, development, engagement and management of information systems and technology resources to implement, support, and enhance corporate, claims management and technology requirements across the enterprise. This exciting new role will hold responsibility for the maintaining E8/ISM controls as well as vulnerability and patching management.Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, you will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensure system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organisational values focussed on enabling staff.Additionally, you will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard project management methodology, including the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research and development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out of solutions.This is a unique opportunity to broaden your existing skillset whilst working with a range of stakeholders.
How you'll make an impact
- Undertake regular patching of systems and critical vulnerability remediation;
- Apply whitelisting and stringent security hardening across core infrastructure, server and end user systems;
- Provision, install, configure, and maintain systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure;
- Ensure operational excellence through high availability and performance of services;
- Establish monitoring and alert systems for proactive issue detection and resolution;
- Support both on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments (AWS and Azure);
- Automate deployments and applying patches to business applications;
- Participate in technical research and development to drive innovation within the Information Systems team;
- Establish monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue detection and resolution;
- Monitor system performance and ensure the availability and reliability of IT services;
- Apply security patches and updates to maintain system integrity;
- Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
- Maintain system documentation and configuration management;
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions;
- Collaborate with other IT staff to plan and implement system upgrades and improvements;
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and best practices;
- Participate in transition to support activities for key projects to ensure the successful ongoing operational support of all new systems;
- Participate in the problem management process, by seeking to define the problem, understanding the impact and identifying the root cause. Problem resolution will involve the sharing of documentation and communication of the solution;
- Assist the Infrastructure team by way of innovative solutions to improve processes by technology automation;
- Continuously improve our infrastructure and deployment processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort;
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement system enhancements;
- Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, including access controls and data protection measures;
- Adhere to Gallagher Bassett’s change and release management policies and processes.
- Australian Citizenship required for eligibility for an Australian Baseline Clearance is essential;
- Demonstrated experience as a Systems Administrator, or similar role;
- Previous experience in ensuring the achievement of ASD Essential Eight and ASD Essential Information Security Manual Standards;
- Strong working knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols;
- Experience with VMware virtualisation, Cloud services (ie. AWS, Azure), and scripting or automation tools (eg. PowerShell, Python, APIs);
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of cross-functional stakeholders;
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with the ability work independently and to competing priorities;
- A strong sense of team and collaboration;
- A resilient attitude;
- Availability to undertake after hours/weekend work as required.
