We offer our customers premier expertise in advice, services and creative technology-based products and help solve some of their most challenging problems.We are seeking a Mechatronic Supervisor to join the Creator Space at the University of Melbourne, supporting students, academics, and makers in a dynamic, hands-on environment.In this role, you'll be the subject matter expert in Mechatronics, helping deliver a safe, inclusive, and student-centred workshop service. From guiding students in electronics and programming, to advising on fabrication techniques and advanced equipment, you'll play a vital role in developing the next generation of creators and innovators.Supporting the Program and Workshop Managers, you'll support the delivery of core training, mentor users in practical skills, and help shape the growth and evolution of Creator Space through continuous improvement and innovation.What you'll do:
  • Deliver a safe and efficient Creator Space service for students and staff.
  • Support the Core Training program, guiding students through structured learning.
  • Provide expert advice on the right tools, equipment, and training for mechatronic projects.
  • Mentor and guide users in electronics, programming, and fabrication skills.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative maker culture.
  • Support compliance with OHS, ISO9001, and university standards.
  • Assist academic and student groups with coursework and non-coursework projects.
What you'll bring:
  • A background in Engineering, Design, or Manufacturing with some relevant industry experience.
  • A Diploma or higher qualification in Mechatronics, Electronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, CAD/CAM, and fabrication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing students.
  • A collaborative, curious, and proactive approach to making and problem-solving.
  • Eligibility for an Australian Baseline Security Clearance and a Working with Children Check.
