- Leading teams to identify and analyse relevant information to draw evidence-based conclusions on competition issues.
- Developing, implementing and reviewing plans for the conduct of investigations and/or projects.
- Identifying suitable resolutions for identified actions, changing market behaviours, activities and issues and providing recommendations to senior management.
- Preparing for litigation in the Federal Court including drafting briefs for lawyers and counsel and obtaining witness statements.
- Assisting with leading and guiding the professional development of junior team members and contributing to the leadership of the branch.
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, or similar fields.
- A strong and demonstrated understanding of the competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation, or the ability to quickly acquire this.
- Experience leading and managing investigations into complex matters and/or competition law issues in accordance with developed plans, and ensuring investigations are undertaken with established investigative principles.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake objective, systematic analysis to draw accurate conclusions, critically assess and support evidence-based decision making (ideally in matters involving competition law analysis).
- Strong written drafting skills and demonstrated experience in ensuring high quality documentation including staff papers, notices, correspondence, reports, minutes, and briefs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to foster successful internal and external stakeholder relationships.
